In this month, many got unnatural link penalty who had invested in splishsplash's wolf network. Since all of us got this penalty at almost same time and due to same reason, we can work for a solution which may work for all affected.
If you have tried any workaround successfully or unsuccessfully please share it here.

I had submitted reconsideration request and today got their rejection mail.I had removed all pbn and disvowed 2.0.Maybe its too soon for reconsideration requests.

I also got 2 penalties. I submitted reconsideration request for both sites and both get rejected today. Do you think we need to disavow all the links we built?

Disavowing is the last thing google manual penalty reviewers care about. You need to guide them on a path on which they understand that you got those links removed (by contacting the owners or any other fake good story).

Agree, this is the ``natural`` way.

Don`t think you just disallow shit and call daddy Google: I`m done; put me on the back on the race.

Leave it some time; tell the owner of PBN to delete your posts; show them proof like you`ve sent an email to each of those websites.

A real fairy tale mate; in the near future, we offer to Google blowjobs.
    Welcome to IM! :)

The story - I did that. by telling that I managed to get those links removed. I even submitted the reconsideration request one week after the first "penalty email" just to show them that I put an effort to get the links removed. Let's hear more opinions..

How were you notified of the manual penalty? Through Google Webmaster?

I got two of my biggest sites hit - it took me 2-3 days to have both penalties lifted. I disavowed all Wolf links for each of them and asked for reconsideration. Worked like a charm!

If you don't mind, can you share the message you sent to them for reconsideration. I am putting something together but if you don't mind sharing, I'd rather use something similar to yours if you already had success with it

Did you include a link of spreadsheet showing your process in reconsideration message?

Around 26th of feb I guess.

I had a bunch of my pbns deindexed on feb 26(As did, pretty much every pbn on the planet btw), but there were no penalties for clients.

Something happened recently in march. Last week. Another wave of checks by google and suddenly a lot of clients started getting penalties.

I believe the cause is that one of my clients used his full report and did a disavow 4 weeks ago. The client had a penalty because of other links(Not from the wolf) at the time. He asked for all the pbn links to be removed so he could do a reconsideration request, but he decided he would just disavow my entire network anyway. 4 weeks after that, everything was nuked and clients started getting manual penalties en-mass.

Let this be a warning to sellers. Do not ever give full reports, even to trusted clients. I never thought someone would disavow my network, but I was wrong.

I invested $60k late feb to replace the domains that were deindexed. All that was lost last week. I am rebuilding a small, tighter network now, but the days of the large pbns are gone. New safeguards have to be put in place that means large networks like that are going to constantly have problems.

For the clients who got their penalty lifted, what was their strategy like? what do you think is the best workaround? keep doing reconsideration request(even if you are sure you have removed all BH links and have still got rejection mail) or 301 to new site or any other solution ?

I'm really not sure what's going on with Google. The fact that my clients even GOT a penalty in the first place is weird..

So I am now holding the ultimate site nuke? I can just pick anyone I want, put the network back up, link and boom they lose their business?

It's that easy to neg SEO someone now?

    It's just ridiculous.

Even one person who had only 2 links from months ago got a penalty. So just 2 links from my network is enough to neg seo someone.

Some have had the penalty lifted, but they just submitted a normal reconsideration request. I have taken down the entire network though. I don't even know WHICH of my sites were toxic and which weren't, so I had to just take everything down. I had over 500 in my network, all aged auction domains worth an average of $200 each.

@splishsplash what if that person that got 2 links from you got more links from others? Have you analysed his website?

PBN was to get hammered. I mentioned it a lot of times in the posts from recent past. I am sure some people wised up, while others didn't. If you haven't made the right choice yet, now is the time to jump ship.

Yes, this PBN unfortunately had some red flags (like using the same settings for a lot of domains) --> that way, it was easy to identify, which domains belonged to this PBN

It was a huge update on PBNs in the mid of Feb and most of the networks got some major deindexification. @splishsplash is right giving a complete and exact links reports to even a trusted buyer include a huge risk now. The reasons I found so far, the homepage style blogs got major hits with 20 to 30 posts on different niches on the same page. The magazine style blogs look more natural and I recommend most of the sellers to shift at-least your half of the domains at magazine style and content without links is also essential now. We just need to think moreover instead of different registrars, unique IPs. I would like to suggest the sellers and buyers enable the drip feed option on every project like 1 post per day or 1 post after every 2 days, you just need to schedule the posts for the safe side. Another reason I found in 2018, always build some backlinks for your PBN sites as well like 1 to 2 links per month, it will increase the authority of your PBN domains and their credibility. Just treat PBN sites as you treat your money website and all good. The one final thing for sellers, just remove all the client links from your deindexed domains, I know some will think it's pointless to remove the links from deindexed domains but it's just for the safe side.
