What is cloud hosting. and is it good for SEO ?
I have heard that cloud hosting allows you to use the resources of multiple servers. So does it have any bad affect on SEO ?

Switching to cloud hosting alone is not going to help your SEO any. The only way this helps is if you were on a shared server that was way over sold and then you switch to a cloud plan that gives you dedicated resources then yes your site would be a little fast and in that case help your ranking a little by having a faster site.

Depending on where you were hosting. Just because you were on a wordpress host doesn't mean that it was anything special. A ton of web host advertise optimized wordpress hosting and really all they did was create a new page called it something special and then your site is still hosted on the same shared server as everyone else. There are a few like wpengine that truly have a wordpress hosting set up that is optimized for wordpress.

go with wpengine https://wpengine.com

they just host wordpress sites. It's super fast, redundant back ups and free https certificates. Speed - they got it.

Hello @Qasim Khan,

The term cloud hosting is used by a lot of hosting providers lately and it looks almost all the amateurs to hosting are confused with it's definition.

In general, the term cloud is used in 2 different areas of the hosting.

1. Cloud Linux.

In simple terms, It's an linux operating system where your data is isolated unlike other *nix operating systems where your data is stored and shared in the same partition/drives and if a file gets infected, it's possible for it to spread to other files which actually means other users data stored on the same server/partition/drive might get infected as well.

2. Cloud Server.

I believe this is what you were referring to in your OP. In layman terms, A cloud server has a lot more physical processors hence cores and Memory(RAM). Simple as that.

So let's say you buy a hosting account from a cloud service provider and let's assume 1GB RAM and 1 core and 10 GB Storage is allocated for your account. You can install cloudlinux or any operating system as you wish on this server or the service provider can install Wordpress on it for you. We generally call it as a VPS as it's no different than a VPS.

Now you're getting a lot more traffic on your site and it starts lagging and you want to increase it's performance so all you have to do is increase the processing power. In order to do that, you simply upgrade your cloud hosting package and the cpu cores and memory and storage will be increased on-the-fly without any downtime.

Basically, this is what a cloud service/hosting does. But as you see, the data is still stored on the same physical servers and there will be a lot more users like you who owns some space on that server.

Is it not shared? Generally yes and technically no, as all the resources allocated for you can be only used by you and not anyone else.

Now back to your question,

Is cloud hosting a little fast than shared?

There is a thing called overselling in hosting. So many users are cramped into a single server as much as possible due to competition in this business even if they advertise it as dedicated wordpress hosting. Even the wpengine's wordpress hosting is advertised as fastest wordpress hosting, it is still a shared hosting as more than one site is hosted on a single server.

If you truly want the speed, you should go with a managed vps/dedicated server set-up. No single hosting company can beat it's speed.

Technically Cloud hosting by it self is not faster and doesn't boost SEO :)
And yes .. the "wordpress hosting" is simple shared hosting

Cloud hosting service will have the on demand resource allocation. There is harder security setup on the cloud hosting service.

Main principle of cloud hosting is divide as per the need. Cloud used to distribute the required resources on multiple servers as used them as per the requirement. There are multiple servers work together. If one server fails then other will start loading the same task without any delay. Cloud is nothing but the one larger storage space and processor.

Cloud servers automatically balance the traffic on your network so you do not need to worry about that.

Here are the some of the advantages of cloud hosting for you -

1. Accessibility - Main advantage of cloud hosting is that the files are accessible anywhere and anytime. You can access the files when you would like to access without matter of place.

2. Backup facility - Cloud hosting service always have the copy of your data on the the server. So in the case of disaster, you will have the copy of data even if the data on the main server get deleted or lost.

3. Low cost solution - You will need to pay just the amount for the storage which you are actually using.

4. Secure service - You don't have to worry about the security. Cloud hosting provider will have the best infrastructure on which you don't need to worry about the security , they have their setup for security.

5. High degree of uptime

If your website really needs all these then switch to Cloud hosting service, else be with the current hosting service plan. If your resource requirements are realy high then go with it.
