Kindly tell me what affiliate network are you using with this website?

This journey is very inspiring. I struggle with writing for long periods of time and I need to get into the habit of writing even when I don't want to to pump more articles out. Great thread!

Indeed there are some established domains ranking on page one for this term so maybe it could be a case of my website's own authority having not reached a required threshold to be considered yet..
No doubt they are, but it isn't exactly what I was referring to :). The question is, if the same domains are present in top 5/top 10 for the rest of the keywords or not. If they are, than the keyword you target isn't getting "special treatment" from Google. As long as you can beat those domains for other keywords, you can beat it for this one as well.

If these domains are specific for that one keyword, however, and you do not see them ranking for long tail / low comp keywords in your niche, it may be hard to beat this one...

I've worked a lot on this site from last year - 180 articles currently - so I'll just keep writing and see what happens.
Not bad at all!! Just keep on going, and do not focus on that one KW (potato peeler) too much. No doubt you'll earn decent money from other keywords as well.

Kindly tell me what affiliate network are you using with this website?
I cannot tell you the name of the network, since it is a very specific program, somehow related to my niche. Revealing it would tell a lot about my niche.
However, it isn't important, because it accounted for less than 1% of my earnings in 2021. Core monetization consists in Adthrive + my own digital products sold directly on the website.

Thank you :). It is like that. Now I am not publishing new content for this website, working on other stuff (my side projects). But still 1 article gets live every week, from the bank of scheduled articles.
GL with creating this habit, and let me know if you succeeded :)

Wow man, I will make sure to go through this journey to learn more! I have one quick question for you:

If there is one single advice you could tell to your younger "you" 2 years ago with the knowledge you have right now, what would it be?

Hello Kikerinka,

Thank you for sharing this amazing journey with us. I bet you have had an impact on very many people who are lurking around on this forum, including me in a positive way of course.

I know you have mentioned it before, but I cannot find it. Which plugin do you use for selling your E-books?

Again, thanks for sharing this journey, and I'm excited to read all your upcoming updates and hopefully milestones.

Thank you for your kind words vedeus!
Two years ago covid-19 was not in Europe, and I had no idea I would start this journey :). But I understand what you are inquiring about.

To be honest though, I do not know if I would change anything. The journey went better than expected. I aimed to reach $10K/month and on some months already reached $20K. Sure, maybe if I tweaked some detail here and there, or focused on certain content more in early stages, maybe I would have earned more in total up to this point.

But no regrets really, and nothing major/important I would change.

Thanks mate, it's called paid downloads pro (just google it). It used to be much cheaper before, now it costs $110 for one website, so perhaps there are other, more affordable alternatives now on the market.

Next milestone update hopefully coming this week. Stay tuned :)

thanks to you Kikerinka for following this incredible project. I noticed that at the beginning you already had 339 articles before you took over the site.
Did you rework these articles or was the creation of new articles the priority?
I imagine you have at least 700 now considering the phenomenal production of content you have done since taking over the site!

For my part I started my project I have already written 31 000 words in 18 articles. I will open the site when I have a mattress of 30 to 40 articles to overcome any period of demotivation without impacting the launch of the site. I plan to publish 1 article / day I am aware that working without having gains and especially convincing results regarding the traffic of a new site can kill the desire to work hard man likes too much to have quick results and this is harmful to such a project.

Thanks again for this source of motivation that is this thread.

Milestone update: Yesterday we broke 30,000 sessions for the first time, and we actually also broke 31K sessions in a single day!
31K visits.png

- I thought we would break 30K, but 31K already was quite unexpected on Monday already :). It helped a lot that one article got trending in the recent days.

I am not sure though whether it is trending or simply reaching the traffic potential, since so far when one of my articles "got viral", or "trending", it always happened in one country only. Those of you following this journey closely for sure remember articles getting huge traffic from Ghana, South Africa, India, etc.

This time, however, the article got a lot of visits from both US & India, and even got 50 visits from Germany, which is not something usual :). In any case, this is the traffic chart for it, it's the one that got live in the middle of August 2021, while I was in Spain:

article_trending_24th_jan.png
- Obviously those 1.2K entrances helped with breaking 31K sessions. Let's how how it goes with this one, I will know more once the data in Search Console refresh for yesterday. In any case, if it isn't trending but simply started to rank for some related keywords that happen to bring 1K traffic daily, I won't complain. But too early to tell...

All traffic milestones so far (over the duration of this journey, since 12th May 2020):
5K sessions/day : 9th June 2020
6K sessions/day : 10th August 2020
7K sessions/day : 15th September 2020
8K sessions/day : 13th October 2020
9K sessions/day : 17th November 2020

10K & 11K sessions/day: 7th December 2020
12K sessions/day : 7th January 2021
13K sessions/day : 11th January 2021
14K sessions/day : 12th January 2021

15K sessions/day : 19th January 2021
16K sessions/day : 26th January 2021
17K sessions/day : 2nd February 2021
18K sessions/day : 9th February 2021
19K sessions/day : 23rd February 2021

20K sessions/day : 9th March 2021
21K sessions/day : 20th April 2021
22K sessions/day : 11th May 2021 (exactly 365 days after starting the journey)
23K sessions/day : 24th May 2021
24K sessions/day : 13th September 2021

25K sessions/day : 14th September 2021
26K sessions/day: 20th October 2021
27K sessions/day: 26th October 2021
28K & 29K sessions/day: 18th January 2022
30K & 31K sessions/day: 24th January 2022

This milestone is big for me. 30K people in a day is a lot, and honestly it is something I didn't dare to imagine once I was starting this journey. Want to share one screenshot with you today, which will need a bit of explanation:
competitors_open_office.png

Made this chart shortly before I started my journey here, in early May 2020. The first row are stats for my website back then: 110,000 monthly visitors, 320 "money" articles, and in average 344 visits/article.

The remaining rows show data for different websites in my niche, with various levels of similarity. Ranging from very similar (covering exactly the same niche as I do), to just slight similarity (covering partially my niche, but also many other niches falling under an umbrella of one huge niche)...

I never aimed to beat the website with 12K articles and 13 million monthly visitors, because it just covers much wider topics & audience as I do. And the parent company standing behind this website has over 1K employees :). So it is a completely different concept...

But I aimed to get close to the websites marked with red circles, which were sites run either by individuals like me, or by small businesses. Those are also the close matches to my website, when it comes to the topics they cover, though they do it in various ways. When I made this analysis, I considered them the biggest websites in my niche.

Anyway. Some of these websites have grown in traffic, whereas other stayed put, or even dropped a considerable portion of their traffic. This is true for all 20 websites on the list, not only for those in red circles.

I aimed to get close to those websites in red circles. Checking data for all of them on Similarweb, I can see that now I actually beat all of them when it comes to traffic.
Today, effectively speaking, my website is the leading player in the niche, or at least the biggest website in the niche run by an independent publisher or a small business.

Remember that this was done in 20 months, more or less by a single person, and with zero links built or bbought, and overal expenses below $1K.
That's no small achievement for me, and I feel genuinely touched at this moment... Great KW research & great content & passion for your project does indeed work.
Thank you all for accompanying me on this journey, and let's see what's ahead in the coming months :).

Thank you, and enjoy reading the pages :D.

Currently about 1,000 "money" articles (I have more posts online, but sales pages for products, about, privacy policy, etc do not bring any traffic to the website). Average word count about 1,500 words, and right now the site runs on autopilot with 1 article/week getting live, from the database of scheduled articles I wrote earlier.

Indeed, you should read all 86 pages and make notes because this is the best journey you will find at BHW.
Thanks mate, means a lot, because I know you read a lot of journeys here :).

I had to rewrite many of the original articles, which is well-documented in the journey.

Not that I didn't want to make them good when I first wrote them, just my knowledge & writing got better over time, and also my standards for good content got higher :). And for sure it makes sense to remake such posts.

Great to see that you already started! You have a solid word count for an article too... You are right about the "period of de-motivation" as you call it. But this is part of the process, everyone has to pass it, and too many people quit during this period. I sincerely hope you won't be one of them :)

thank you for your feedback

regarding the rewriting of articles I have already done this on a previous blog and it boosted the SEO traffic of nearly 80% of them by increasing the quality!
I don't intend to lose motivation, hence my anticipation for content creation.
The idea is to be able to tell google:
Hey man, come and see a little bit here every day, you have a gift! if I can say that for 4 to 6 months, it would be great!
This project is also a laboratory for me to explore other avenues later

@Kikerinka Hi, Kikerinka, which VPS plan do you use for your sites? I checked the website of your provider and they got at least 5 options (VPS Home, Windows VPS, WordPress VPS, Webuzo VPS, and Storage). Due to one site, I am considering moving it to a higher plan and hope to make it without interruptions.
+ I really read a lot of journeys, not just yours :)

I believe it can help a lot. Currently I am working on a "heavy improvement" of the content on the website I bought at the end of December, and wonder what it can do for this website... Will no doubt report on it later.

In 4 to 6 months you should already see some rewards for your efforts. Think about people though, not about Google. Google will give your articles a chance. But it depends on how people will react to them when it comes to the eventual outcome of your "laboratory" project :)

Mine actually isn't on your list :). I use the cloud VPS running on Linux, currently 4 "slices"--4 cores, 8GB RAM, 120GB storage, 8TB transfer.
I believe though that if I didn't use Cloudflare, I'd need six "slices" by now.

By the way, it isn't that hard migrating website with no down time--and this does not depend on the new host, or the existing one. Just google the topic and you will find a tutorial on how to do it, with 0 interruptions.

A quick note to the journey: We didn't break 32K visitors yesterday (missing less than 100 to do so), but checking Analytics for some data in the evening, I noticed for the first time ever 200 real time users on the website.
200_visits_real_time.png

The "trending" article is going bananas as well:
trending_article_1700.png
- 1,700 page views a day, that's crazy for any topic in my niche :D. I wonder what will happen next, and when it will stop growing. We'll see...

Milestone update: It may be getting boring for you guys, but here I am with another milestone update :D. Yesterday, on 26th January 2022, we broke 32K sessions in a single day!

32K_sessions.png

They say that ad RPM sucks in January, but as long as you have a lot of traffic, you can still make nice money on a day like yesterday:
adthrive_26th_jan.png

Won't write a lot today, since I was emotional with my last milestone update (breaking 30K), and wrote a lot on that occasion :D. Just obligatory list of all traffic milestones:

All traffic milestones so far (over the duration of this journey, since 12th May 2020):
5K sessions/day : 9th June 2020
6K sessions/day : 10th August 2020
7K sessions/day : 15th September 2020
8K sessions/day : 13th October 2020
9K sessions/day : 17th November 2020

10K & 11K sessions/day: 7th December 2020
12K sessions/day : 7th January 2021
13K sessions/day : 11th January 2021
14K sessions/day : 12th January 2021

15K sessions/day : 19th January 2021
16K sessions/day : 26th January 2021
17K sessions/day : 2nd February 2021
18K sessions/day : 9th February 2021
19K sessions/day : 23rd February 2021

20K sessions/day : 9th March 2021
21K sessions/day : 20th April 2021
22K sessions/day : 11th May 2021 (exactly 365 days after starting the journey)
23K sessions/day : 24th May 2021
24K sessions/day : 13th September 2021

25K sessions/day : 14th September 2021
26K sessions/day: 20th October 2021
27K sessions/day: 26th October 2021
28K & 29K sessions/day: 18th January 2022

30K & 31K sessions/day: 24th January 2022
32K sessions/day: 26th January 2022

I think that's it, and do not expect another traffic or earnings milestone until the end of January. I'll be back here on 1st February though, with my regular monthly update. Enjoy the rest of the week!

Thanks mate, but I do not think we'll reach 50K page views on any day, since I haven't published a sufficient number of articles in my last content push to reach 50K page views in a day. Traffic always follows the publishing, with some delay.

Of course, the recognition of my brand & website authority in eyes of both Google & users also grows, and older articles are gaining ranks and traffic, but I still think it won't be enough for 50K page views in a day...

Anyway, I still have this dream of reaching 1 million page views in May or June this year, and in order to do so, we will need some days with 40K page views. That's definitely realistic, considering how things are going right now :)

Your reports are inspiring! Just to update you, I've reapplied to both MV and AT yesterday. The site is at around 42% US traffic. I really hope at least one of them accepts me. Then I can make some real monies. Fingers crossed :)

If I remember correctly, you said you improved the design of your website to make it look more "premium". Let's hope it is enough, if not and they reject you again, I may have some ideas for you how to get accepted next time over.
But I think your chances are good, because you have so much traffic, and these networks also want to grow, since growing gives them more power in the industry, and of course also more money :)

Very veryyyyy sweeeeet!!

Can't wait!

I think you'll get to 50k pv in a day because you've hit almost 38k pv today with 32k sessions.

I agree! Maybe not this year, but next year for sure!

Thank you guys, let's see :). This year, if I do not do another content push for my authority website (it isn't planned now, but who knows what will happen during the year?) it will get only 52 new articles (one a week).

Not sure if that can move the needle to 50K daily page views. I'd say it cannot, but it is also true that results have surprised me many times over the duration of this journey. Maybe they can surprise me again?

If I remember correctly, you said you improved the design of your website to make it look more "premium". Let's hope it is enough, if not and they reject you again, I may have some ideas for you how to get accepted next time over.
But I think your chances are good, because you have so much traffic, and these networks also want to grow, since growing gives them more power in the industry, and of course also more money :)
Thank you bro!

Just woke up for a second rejection from Adthrive :(
Waiting for MV, but I don't think it will be any different. I'll get in touch with you once I hear back from them.
