When I use ahrefs I target keywords with at least 50 searches and low KD (less than 1 or 2). I only like Ahrefs because it analyses a ton of keywords in a matter of seconds, I don't think it's the best way to do keyword research.

I think the best way to find low competition keywords is to use google auto-suggest. This way you can also get a first impression of how many searches the query gets. (searches with more volume show up first) If there are forums like quora showing up they also often show you how many views this question has, so that's a good indication too.

I bought the domain for my second English site a few days ago and finished the site design and setup today.

My first site had an amazing start to the new year. I’m already at 1.5k in earnings, it had a nice influx in traffic and seems to average around 200 page views a day now. This means that for the third month in a row it broke the 1k in earnings.

The next goals are to outline about 50 posts for the new site and then hire more writers.

I think with the earnings from my first site and the process I put in to place it’s a realistic goal to outsource 30+ posts a month now.

My writer submitted the first 3 articles for my new site today. The homepage and about page are indexed already, I hope the articles get indexed equally fast.

I’ve cought Covid so I’m not allowed to leave the house for at least the next week. I still have Uni but I’ll have a bit more spare time on my hands which I’ll put into finding more undeserved topics for my new site.

Today my best offer sold 3 times, which is a new record for me. This equals about 650 dollars which puts January to almost 2300 dollars in earnings already. The feeling of making 650 dollars without anyone knowing while being sick and not being allowed to leave your room is one of the best feelings ever.

If you’re thinking of starting a blog just do it, it’s definetely worth it and probably not as hard as you think it is.

Do you recommend selling digital products or selling items through Amazon?

Digital products offer better commissions but are usually more competitive and not as easy to sell. I personally think Amazon is way better than what most people think. Their commission might not be the best but their conversion makes up for that.

I’ll see how well my second site does. If I can replicate the success of my first site I’ll think about selling the first site. Until then I’ll use it to make some money to support the second site.

Lol, the similarity is insane with my journey. Dude, have you been reading my journey? Cause yours is so similar to mine lately.

- You made some hundreds in October and then blew up to four digits in November, kinda unexpected, just like me.
- You have the same concern as me after revenue blowing up: "It only takes one competitor of mine to outrank those 2 pages and 90% of my blogs income is gone." (How do you have this concern when you invest in links? Unlike me you seem to be able to fight back).

Ok, so if you take each point separately it's not much, but put them all together, the coincidence is kinda big, don't you think?

This journey starts on a totally different path than mine, outsourcing and all, but then when my revenue blew up yours suddenly blew up too. Anyone else seeing the similarities?

it's a fresh domain. I want to try and start a site with an expired domain at some point in the future but that's not something I want to do in the near future. I suppose it would take me a long time to find a good expired domain and even if you background check it thoroughly there will always be a bit of risk involved with an expired domain.

My new site is up to 8 posts now and I have another 4 posts that I'm waiting on my writers to submit to me for this site.

I went through all applications of my job post last week and asked 4 writers to write a paid test article for me. The deadline for the test article was yesterday, however, only 2 of the 4 submitted a post. One of the two didn't follow the guidelines and the content itself was written in poor English. The other one, fortunately, submitted a very good post which I was able to post with minimal edits.

I'm trying out another writer I found on FB currently, he asked to extend his deadline which is not a good sign so I'm not expecting too much from him.

Together with the other writer, I found 2 weeks ago, I now have a team of 3 writers. These 3 should be able to write around 40 posts per month. 40 posts run me around 1,2k euro per month.

Over the past months, I wrote almost no content, which is disappointing. I'm thinking it might have something to do with my English. I struggle a lot to stay focused when writing and am often missing words. I'm contemplating starting a third site in german. I've watched a lot of the videos of Shaun Mars over the past week, he's writing 5 articles every single day. I'd really like to get in the habit of writing one post a day. I feel like it would be a lot easier to do that in german, than in English. Tomorrow I want to write one post in german to try it out and see how it compares to writing English posts.

My first site will turn 1 year old next week, which is very exciting. I'll post the full 1-year long traffic graph then.

Its been exactly a year now since I started my first site.

The site made almost 11k in revenue in the first year. In total I spent about 5k, however, this also includes blogging courses, content for my other site, and other expenses that really don't have anything to do with this site.



The site made about 600 dollars from Amazon in its first year (January is not included in the image)



Since November I run ezoic ads on the site, and even though it doesn't have a lot of traffic it makes a good amount of money.


Overall I'm really happy with my general progress on my journey. Last year I wouldn't have dreamed that I'm at the place where I'm today in terms of earnings from just a single website. In the two years before I tried a lot of different methods to earn money online, I tried selling SEO services, selling web design, and writing Amazon Kindle Books. However, nothing really worked and none of the things I tried were as passive as I hoped they were. That's what I love about blogging, if I'm busy at uni and don't do anything for the site for two weeks it can still generate revenue, even without me touching the site at all.

The goal for the second year of my journey is to scale my content production. I think I've figured everything out I need to be successful. I know how to find topics & niches, I know how to run websites, have a rough idea of what's good & bad when it comes to backlinks, and know how to write for the web.

Now, its time to reinvest my profits into content. As I explained in my last post I currently have 3 writers that produce about 10-12 posts per week (depending on the word count). That means I can publish about 50 posts per month, which is really decent.

The site I started in the middle of January is already at 15 posts, and I have another 10 articles that are written by writers currently.

I'm confident that once I finish uni (September 2023) I'll have a decent enough income from my sites to travel the world independently, which is very exciting.

I had issues with indexing my posts for my new site, they were all in the found - currently not indexed category on google search console. This was worrying me a lot as every day they weren't getting indexed for, it would take them another day to reach their full potential, and there's always the risk that google just won't index them at all.

Yesterday I tried RankMaths instant indexing plugin and it worked to my surprise. About every hour or two another posts gets indexed it seems like, 15 of my 17 posts are now indexed, which is great. I hope it will stay that way and google won't deindex them again. It took my first site about 1.5 months to start getting traffic, I hope my new site will start getting traffic in March.

In the last two days, I made about $400 dollars in commission, which was great. The first half of the month started really strong, I made about 2k, the second half (with exception of the last two days) were awful, I barely made any sales. Overall January was a new record in earnings, I'll have to wait a few more days for all earnings to finalize but I think I broke the 3.5k mark this month.

Another record month in terms of earnings for my site.

If you follow this journey you'll know that I spent a lot of my time developing a solid process for my content production (SOP, keyword research etc.)

I can finally see the results of my time spent developing the workflow this month. I was able to double my post count from 31 to 62 in a month, and in the first 3 days of Feb I posted another 6 articles.

Over the next months, my plan is to outsource a lot of content and only write very few articles (those that have a very high earning potential) myself. I'll probably get my second site up to 50 posts this month, then I'll wait to see if traffic comes in. Until then I'll either have my writers write content for my first site or start a third site.

This week I bought a keyword research package from a well-known YouTuber in the blogging niche, surprisingly it was only 89 dollars. Apparently, he'll find me 25 undeserved keywords for my first site. I'm a bit skeptical as this is a really low price but as I'm struggling to find more topics for my first site I figured it was worth a shot.

Moving forward I want to judge my success by posts published by month. I had someone on fiver make me an ios widget that displays the current number of posts on my different sites and adds them together. I think this is a great way to motivate myself as I'll always have the current number of posts in mind. (it displays my sites favicon where the BHW logo is)
