Is this a scam or will it really help with load speeds and security if I have the domain Name registered at Name Cheap but I have my website hosted on DO ?
Or is there an alternative ?

i think it can help if the location of the server is far from the user, for example a japenese using a france server

Ok, good to know, if your using DO. Not sure why you asked about NameCheap then. Either way CloudFlare DNS is faster than both NameCheap and DO DNS.

Only because my domain name is hosted on NameCheap and I was trying to find out if having Premium DNS would be good for the DO hosting and weather there's any affect.

I have not seen much difference in that vs just using regular DNS settings. Several domain companies offer this upgrade I have tested a few but never seen any difference that would make the cost worth it.

Google is your friend & enemy :)

In terms of speed here are the top 3

1) OpenDNS
2) CloudFlare perfect as DNS provider... just don't use the "cloud proxy" .

Just because your domains are registed with NameCheap/Namesilo/Godaddy(LOL) etc doesn't means that you can't use your own or 3rd party DNS services.
