    great guide man.

I do have some questions if I may

    1. so few months ago one of my sites was penalized for having "thin content". it wasnt penalized because of my backlinks but because of manual review of the website itself (thin content).

I do have my own PBNs giving backlinks to this website. at the moment I want to create a new site but I wonder if I should create backlinks from these same PBN to this new site? My doubt is that it might look suspicious considering these same PBNs have backlinks to my old site which is already penalized. and most of the times these PBNs do not have any other outbound link except to my penalized site (several of my PBNs have other outbound links to authoritative sites such as wikipedia but only 1-2 OBL in each PBN)

    2. considering my website does not have any e-commerce functionality, do I need to upgrade from HTTP to HTTPS? i mean, it's just mostly articles and videos, but how important is it to upgrade to HTTPS?

Respect that you made such a comprehensive and informative post about SEO. I think some of these points are capable of confusing or hindering the progress of newbies though.

For example, when I was first learning these things I was obsessive over keeping my anchor ratios and keyword density low because I was scared from others warning of over-optimizaiton, but I've now learned from my own ranking experience and from others' that you generally don't have to worry about these things as long as it's not overkill and it's mostly natural.

I think it's important that people who are learning about SEO understand that there are unsafe practices in the eyes of google, but also that they shouldn't be too concerned and/or obsessive with many of these things.

    Cheers guys :)

Linking from the PBN sites, well if there was no link penalty then assume the PBN sites are ok. I dont think there is a problem. Of course there is a small risk because you are potentially linking the old and the new site together; personally if it was a client site I probably wouldnt do it, but any other site I think its a small risk to take.

Regarding the SSL, well no, if you are not doing ecommerce then you dont neccesarily need SSL. Although I have had a few sites recently where there is no ecommerce, but Google sees something that they think is sensitive information capture and flags the site up anyway. Also, as far as SEO is concerned, I beleive Google stated they do take SSL as a positive ranking signal - I guess its probably a very minor signal. There are also lots of debates on how important it is - studies have shown that more top sites have SSL than not, but that doesnt neccesarily mean anything. So I guess its up to you here, but like I said, if you have lets encrypt functionality and you can add SSL for free then why not?

Thanks, yea thats a good point that you made there. I said to someone the other day something that is also relevant here - With anything in SEO you really need to understand what you are doing - its never enough to follow any guide, but you need to understand why these things make a difference, then you can modify the instructions to suit your own scenario.

How long is a piece of string? :) I have seen movement within 48 hours from adding links in the past, and sometimes it takes weeks / months and suddenly everything starts moving.

So I try not to think about that too much, Once I have something thats working I stick to it and don't worry too much about short term movement, I just keep going steadily and wait it out. This is especially true with client sites - sometimes it can take months on a new site before things start moving but its better like that than getting a big movement short term then getting the site tanked.

    Hey dude. Awesome guide.

Since you have so much experience with SEO, I thought I'd ask you a question. I am using All in One SEO. I was wondering if I should enable META keywords and put them in a graph (you know, the one which is comma separated) or I shouldn't do that? I've read an interview with one of the guys from Google and he said this basically has no effect. Yet I'm still new to SEO, and I'm wondering whether the text will just be enough? Sure, there are SEO titles and such, but is it really worth it to disable META keywords and leave everything to Google? Thank you.

I think its pointless adding meta keywords. You should be focusing instead on including your target keywords and close variations in -

Title tags, heading 1, 2 and 3 tags, URL, within the page content, image alt tags, image file names, image captions and/or description fields, meta description tag and also make sure you include the keyword in the first paragraph of your text. I think that covers most of the basics.

    Hello Eeveryone,
I had gone through some seo strategies for better business and google ranking.

    Think like Google

So as to comprehend Google's calculations and SEO, it's vital to comprehend the way Google considers.

Google's employment as a web index is to restore the most ideal outcomes for its client's questions. Google's calculations are intended to boost quality substance from site proprietors and give quality, legitimate sites to its clients.

However, content shouldn't be composed for Google it ought to be composed for clients. Google doesn't rank sites in view of how well it enjoys the data, yet how helpful the data is to its clients.

How Google SEO calculations change ?

    • Since Google is continually attempting to enhance its pursuit encounter, its calculations are continually evolving. This implies SEO is a progressing venture for any site proprietor.
    • Google calculations have seen what's coming to them of changes throughout the years as well.
    • outline of changes and updates google has made throughout the years
    • Each refresh is intended to improve indexed lists for clients. We should discuss a couple of the most real updates up until now.
    • The refresh named Florida, which occurred in November 2003, put the SEO business on the guide. This refresh punished locales that utilized dark cap strategies like watchword stuffing.
    • In 2005, the XML Sitemap refresh truly enabled SEO to impact site slithering and indexation. It likewise permitted web proprietors to submit sitemaps straightforwardly to Google utilizing Webmaster Tools.
    • Google Local and Google Maps likewise wound up plainly accessible in 2005, which affected neighborhood SEO and urged organizations wherever to actually put themselves on the guide.

Vince, a refresh in 2009, demonstrated SEO supported huge brands, which realized thoughts that greater brands would have long haul achievement in the realm of SEO.

In December 2010, Google affirmed that they utilized data from both Twitter and Facebook to decide positioning a tremendous stride for Google that set a considerable measure of energy in the hands of different organizations.

In 2012, Google punished destinations that put promotions "over the overlay," saying it hurt client encounter.

A considerable measure of the Panda and Penguin refreshes occurred en route that molded what Google looked like at substance and outer connections, separately.

Penguin 4.0, the latest refresh in September 2016, empowered continuous list refreshes and made Penguin a piece of the center calculation.

thats sadly a reason I stopped doing that seo client shit. the clients annoy the fuck out of me with the usual "you get #1 rankings guarantee?" or "4-digits linkbuilding,I cant get 666 for 7$ at ebay!" or "what, 3 -6 months ??" and crap. .. and then they want to compete with dudes 1-10 and average (!!!) RD of 100-200 within "overnight".

and "adwords is to expensive " - when CPC often is like 1-2$ (!!!) thats rediculous low nowadays for gettings clicks for selling services or products and TARGETED traffic!

no effect for ranking. I use approx 2-3 to keep me focused on an articles main keywords and later to copypaste them into a serptracker.

Yes, exactly. I get around this in a couple of ways -

First of all I always quote high for SEO projects - then you only get clients that have a decent budget to spend
Second, I always explain that if client wants short term rankings then they have to do adwords/ppc - want to be on page 1, sure you can be there today with adwords
Thirdly, I always try to explain exactly what I am offering and (to an extend) how I am going to do it. I also explain that results are not guranteed and that anyone who guarantees results is going to disappoint you.

Still not guaranteed to keep you out of trouble but hopefully with those rules you get fewer customers who pay more and have reasonable expectations. You turn away a lot of potential clients but you make up for it with fewer high paying clients - and because you have the right budget you dont disappoint them.

I posted earlier that this was a wonderful resource, thank you. I wanted to follow up to say I've been systematically working my way through every category that you list. In my opinion your suggestions for content are very useful to me. I was not aware of cognitiveseo's content tool. I signed up for a free trial. After using it with some of my content I am very impressed with how it works. My content scored OK, but it is easy to improve using the suggestions. I've set up some SERP tracking to see if it will move me from page two to page 1. I am sure that I will find other gems specific to me, but I wanted to thank you again for such useful help.

@davids355 you provided a list of recommendations of various services here on BHW. Would you mind telling me who would be the best for an on-page SEO?

    Thank you.

I have never outsourced on-page SEO.
You can do it yourself following my guide and some of the other guides I have linked to.
Or there are services in the marketplace, this one for example -
    https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/on-page-seo-optimization-services-for-higher-rankings.949119/
That seems to cover the basics and it also seems reasonably priced, but I have never tried them myself.
