There are ~18,000 cryptocurrencies as of March 2022 recorded. It's hard to keep track of all of them. So what is your current go to cryptocurrency?

Bitcoin is the answer to threads like this. Whatever you are trying to ask, the answer is Bitcoin. But the cool kids (including me) have taken a slightly more risky approach and are in Ethereum as our go to.

All the others came just trying to copy the success of Bitcoin but all failed to do so.
Try to buy a NFT priced in BTC. Write a smart contract on BTC. Send a private transaction with BTC. Not everything copies BTC.

Chances are BTC will grow old and die

Bitcoin & Cardano. There are other forks of bitcoin that try to solve short-term problems that have no future, such as bitcoin cash, the scam of Bitcoin Gold, or some similar ones. Bitcoin, not having programmability and other things has fewer backdoors, which makes it more secure.
Solana and Ethereum for example are clear cases of projects where security is lousy, you just have to do a little research.

It's not just building, but providing security while building, which in Ethereum is the opposite, we build, and if something breaks, well, we'll see how we fix it. Move fast and break things

They will tell you that Cardano is a ghost network, that it is useless, that you are an idiot and that you do not know cryptocurrencies. But hey, it takes about 1500 days without falling and there are no security problems, something that Ethereum or Solana can't say. So well, maybe for some it doesn't mean anything, it's just facts.

XRP

By the way, there are far more than 18000 of them. New cryptocurrencies are created nearly by the second.
Hang around Pinksale, for example.
DEXtools, poocoin, etc. Far more than 18k.

Any cryptocurrency that is held in a decentralized non-custodial wallet or better in hardware ledger wallet, is secured.
My answer is based on what "secured" means in the crypto space. In the crypto space, "secured" refers to safety & security in the storage or holding of a cryptocurrency.

Stable coins then it's USDT and USDC nothing stable outside that, you can project and go with whatever the tide goes but hard to keep track like you said.

Do a little research and stick to a few coins, see how it goes
