Yes, it is possible to rank for low-competition keywords without using backlinks. I've attempted it on a few different websites. However, for keywords with a moderate level of competition, you will require backlinks.

Yes, of course you can.

The questions are: How many monthly searches? What keywords are you ranking for? How much competition you got? How many visitors do these rankings bring you?

What's the average SV per kw and do you filter them in bulk?

Glad to see these positive results
I'd love to try something similar in the near future

It could happen, but I want to believe that OP is a nice guy and doesn't just flashes his new shiny toy in front of us and then leaves :)
It's getting difficult over time to rank even for low-competition keywords as some people are creating sites with auto-generated content on expired domains. There is heavy competition even for low hanging fruits. I think quality content alone won't be enough to rank. Some niches improved since Nov update, but it's still difficult. I don't believe in what OP shared.

you make a good point about auto-generated content ranking for long tails, I thought about this, too. But I think there's still room for unpretentious SEOs. As for OPs post, I refrain from drawing conclusions until he answers my questions. But even if he won't answer them, what he said it's true. I was just curious about the details, that's all...

It's true for marginal niches but won't work for most mainstream niches. OP might've ranked with a micro-niche for longtail keywords which I too believe is still possible. But claiming that you can rank a brand new site without backlinks is a bold statement. This is clearly a clickbait and will mislead newbies.

Well, its quite possible to rank with zero backlinks if you're trying to rank for your own name or something lol - - sometimes not even that, if you have a common name. My first SEO client was a company that wasn't even ranking for their own company name haha.

Like someone said before, it's easy to rank a website targeting lots of low comp keywords!
Trouble is, you've got to write lots of articles within a small space of time!

Everytime I see this, the person never shows the sales or traffic. I've yet to see a site monetizing itself without having backlinks. Where's the commercial intent? Queries without commercial intent are almost useless. Low ad rev, no sales, etc etc. I've got better shit to do than just rank sites for the purpose to show "hey look, I'm gaining rank without backlinks". And the person is in position 30. You won't make it to #1 unless the keyword is useless. Reminds me of the tatics Alex becker used by claiming he ranked for keywords. Then it turned out the keywords were useless and the reason he ranked is because no one cares about those keywords.

So this is a brand new site on a new domain I started about 2 months ago...

found some good keywords and bought high quality content ..

look at the results in month 2 , no backlinks were built (yet)

Im still going to build backlinks to accelerate the process but im sure some of my posts will rank #1 without any backlinks (or at least without any that i actively built, ppl might still link to them)

I believe some of these will continue straight to #1 ..

Hope that motivates anyone, not every niche is saturated, take your time to find a good niche and then write or buy great content, and you'll see results.

* notice the keyword that made a 94 -> 9 jump lol.. beautiful

Interesting insight, indeed. I also believe that backlinks aren't that necessary, especially in the beginning and that site can be ranked pretty well even without them. Keywords often play the most significant role here, so it's highly important that they are relevant and have some quality. You mentioned that you bought some articles which can sometimes be a pretty risky move, but I guess it turned out good for you. I am interested though, how high competition is in your niche? As you gain high ranking so fast so I am wondering if something like that is possible in verticals that are oversaturated and where a lot of competitors are targeting same or similar keywords and that have pretty quality links.
